Reimagined 19th Century Aunt Sally On Stand With 14 Throwing Sticks
An early 19th century Aunt Sally on stand with 14 throwing sticks.
This is an old, predominantly English game played in pubs, summer fetes at horse races and mainly in and around the Cotswolds and Midlands of England.
The doll would have a pipe in its mouth and the game was to throw the batons at the doll to knock out the pipe.
This Aunt Sally has original paint, hat and clothing.
We have added the stand, pole and pipe as it's original is lost in the eons of time.
The head on its own is 33cm.
Head and dress is 83cm
And the whole piece from floor to top of head is 135cm.
The game is still played in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire using a skittle on a tall post.
